Dingadang is a multi-disciplinary studio building chic websites for the multi-hyphenates with big vision. This project brought Soft Stella, an artist-entrepreneur-activist-Twilight-fanatic, to Squarespace from another platform.
Soft Stella isn’t just one thing, and neither is this Squarespace 7.1 site. These web pages contain made-to-order crochet art, IRL workshop scheduling, and enough Twilight gear to keep you stocked 4ever.

Soft Stella is designed by Dingadang Studio
Soft Stella is an artist here to have a good time (and to take us along for the ride) by playing with color and humor to create art, workshops, and spaces in both IRL and URL.
Dingadang is a multi-disciplinary studio ready to handle branding, website, and photography with an artist’s eye and an entrepreneurial drive.
Kristian Richards, founder of Dingadang, brought me onto this DEV SESSION with the goal of capturing the utter vibe that is Soft Stella on this robust Squarespace 7.1 site.
Our tool(s) of choice: custom animations.
You’ll see movements and interactive elements woven throughout the site, all to catch your eye and bring you in close.
A lot is happening in the world of Soft Stella, and this Squarespace 7.1 site is a true reflection of that.
Don’t be surprised if you lose track of time as you browse through everything Soft Stella has to offer.
Soft Stella contains multitudes, and so does this website.

Custom Vibes
Custom animations don’t always have to be the loudest thing on the page. Sometimes, you just need a little movement to unlock those timeless vibes.
This floating effect is simple to implement, hard to mess up, and really brings the whole room together, dontcha think?
I have a soft spot for this kind of animation because it works across devices, browsers, and even tastes - it’s classic.

Scrolling Reveal Animation
We wanted a playful moment here to give a little “Ta-daah!” reveal to Soft Stella’s work.
By letting the user control these scroll-based animations, the desktop user gets an interactive experience that brings them for a closer look at Soft Stella.

Setting up Shop
E-commerce and Squarespace
Squarespace is still in the e-commerce game, especially for the multi-talented among us. When you do more than sell physical products, Squarespace offers a powerful e-commerce platform while also doing all the other stuff.
You don’t have to worry about plug-ins or installed apps, you control the entire shopping experience from the main hub Squarespace dashboard.
We added custom touches like the “sold out” tab to keep the storefront as Stella as possible.
